This is a great International Culture or Social Studies activity linking world hunger and food. Choose several students to participate in this activity while the rest remain silent observers and record their findings on the World Hunger Observation Sheet. world_hunger_observation.pdf The active participants will sit at a table with a placard representing their country. The teacher will bring out a plate covered with aluminum foil and present it to the students from each country. They will uncover their dishes at the same time where they will find a plate with the food they would eat for their evening meal if they were in the chosen country. Have students eat their meals ( or not ) and discuss how they feel about their portions. Have the class record observations on the form then participate in discussions.
